Jeanne Manthei

November 1, 1917 — November 7, 2017

Jeanne J. Manthei, age 100 of Arbor Vitae, WI and formerly of Marshfield, WI was born into eternal life on November 7, 2017 at her daughter’s residence. Jeanne was born on November 1, 1917 in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Wilbur M. and Lucile J. ( Blodgett) Johnson. She graduated from Marshfield Senior High and then attended Lawrence College and UW-Madison. Jeanne married George R. Manthei, Jr. on March 31, 1939.

Jeanne was an active golfer in her younger years. She then enjoyed all the Northwoods had to offer when she and George purchased a home on Fence Lake in 1962. She was an avid bridge player into her 90’s and enjoyed doing acrostic puzzles up until 5 months ago. She was a voracious reader. She loved traveling, and had a passion for watching the Badgers, Packers, Brewers, and the PGA tour. More than anything, however, she loved spending time with family.

She is survived by her son; George R. (Jane) Manthei, III and daughter; Julie M. Manthei and by her grandchildren: Jill (Ethan Malasky) Manthei, Katie Manthei and Holly (Mike) Thielman and is further survived by the pets she so dearly loved, Rascal and Boomer.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents: Wilbur (Lucile) Johnson, her grandparents: Charles (Netta Etta) Blodgett, her stepmother: Beatrice Johnson; her husband, George R. Manthei Jr. and her son, Barry J. Manthei.

In accordance with Jeanne’s wishes, there will be a private family service at St Matthias Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield
