Timothy John Nampel

October 24, 1974 — August 13, 2017

Timothy John Nampel lived life by means of a charming smile and undeniable dimples. He took great pride in teaching his children about nature, how to be a teammate, the proper way to love their family, to give more than they get, to never take life for granted, and, of course, how to appreciate the music of The Grateful Dead and Phish.

Tim acquired his social skills from his beloved momma, Julaine Nampel. Like his momma, he could talk to anyone and entertain any crowd, and was well-known around the community. He was often seen carrying groceries for those in need, stopping by local businesses to check in and say hello, or coaching youth soccer, always giving back to the community that he treasured.
As a child, Tim loved the outdoors and spent many days hunting and fishing with his dad, Thomas Nampel. The two of them were inseparable, always on a new adventure. When he became a father, Tim shared his appreciation of the outdoors with his children, Jacob and Samantha, through cross-country trips, hunting and fishing, camping, fly-ins to Canada, and more.

From an early age, Tim was an amazing athlete in soccer and downhill skiing. He played soccer throughout high school, where his incredible skills were highlighted each week in the local papers, and then went on to play at Carroll University. On the ski hill, Tim was a force to be reckoned with as he made a black diamond run seem effortless. His sisters, Stephanie Nampel and Melissa Christian {Rick Christian}, were always there to cheer him on. Following in his footsteps, his children have fast feet on the soccer field and no fear on the slopes. There was nothing Tim enjoyed more than teaching his children how to do both.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing or meeting Tim quickly learned two qualities about him. He loved listening to The Grateful Dead and Phish, a love he passed on to his children, and he had a huge sweet tooth. From chocolate to gummy worms to sour cherries, Tim always had a supply of candy at the ready.

Over the years, Tim became passionate about landscaping and gardening. He took pride in sharing his Grateful Garden harvest with his family and friends. He started his own business, Natural Landscape and Design, and quickly became very successful. All around Vilas County, pieces of Tim can be found in the many beautiful yards he designed and landscaped.
Tim lived a very full life in St. Germain, a community he was honored to call home. He married the love of his life, Kalisa in 2007. Together, they built a terrific life that others admired. Tim’s greatest accomplishments were his children, Jacob and Samantha, of whom he was so proud. These two children made Tim’s life complete and put a smile on his face, each and every day. He absolutely loved being a father, and believed in family first, above all else.

Tim had a way about him that put people at ease. Every room he entered seemed a little lighter, every conversation a little brighter, and every hug a little tighter. It may have been his dazzling smile or his big dimples, or his unbelievable sense of humor. Or just maybe, it was his huge heart that had room for everyone. Tim will be greatly missed and his absence will be felt by those who loved and knew him.

We will see you in the stars, in the landscape surrounding us, in your children’s eyes, and, finally, when we meet again. We love you, Tim.
