Arlene M. Lechich

February 29, 1928 — November 3, 2013

Arlene M. Lechich, 85 of Woodruff, Wisconsin, joined the Lord Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Seasons of Life Hospice Home. Born February 29, 1928 (Leap Year Baby) in Chicago, Illinois. She was very happy to have turned 21 last year, and was the only child of Albert and Helen Strejc. Arlene grew up in the Chicagoland area and attended Morton High School. After high school Arlene worked for Vapor Heating Corporation as an office worker. As a young child she studied piano and while in High School she studied the harp. Arlene loved her music; singing in many choruses including the Aeolian (a Capella) Choir. She played harp extensively in various bands, orchestras, operettas and choruses. She performed twice at the Chicagoland Music Festival. One of Arlene’s most memorable moments was being a member of the West Suburban Chapter of Sweet Adelines Inc. (1953-1957) and winning 1st Regional Championship for the North Central Region. Arlene sang Baritone with the Nota-belles quartet winning International 4th Place Medal in 1953. She attended the Sweet Adelines Inc., Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and International 2nd Place Medal in 1954, Sweet Adelines, Inc. convention in Buffalo, New York. Arlene joined the Melodeers in August of 1977 and was elected to the board in April 1978 as Public Relations chairman. Arlene met the love of her life, Bob Lechich in December 1955; they were engaged to me married in the spring of 1956 and married on September 1, 1956. They were married 52 wonderful amazing years. They lived in Park Ridge, IL, until Bob built their home in Highland Park, IL. Arlene and Bob lived in Highland Park 35 years. They built their new home on Brandy Lake, Arbor Vitae, WI in 1994 and moved in April 1995. Arlene moved from her home in Arbor Vitae to Seasons of Life Hospice House in 2012. Arlene was a very faithful member of Faith Evangelical Church, where she was a long time member of the Deacon & Deaconess Committee. She is survived by two daughters Roberta Lynn Wan-kier (Erric), and Donna Marie Reinert. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Steve, Bill, Marisa, Kristina and Scott and one great-grandson Chase. As well as special friends: Mimi Miklautsch, Ed & Laurette Abrahamson, and Gary & Dee Ruesch. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Helen Strejc, husband Bob, and good friend Tom Miklautsch. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00am at Faith Evangelical Church on Friday November 8. Services will be held at 11:00am, with internment at Sunset Cemetery in Arbor Vitae immediately after. A reception will follow back at Faith Evangelical Church. Memorial donations may be sent to Seasons of Life Hospice House or Faith Evangelical Church The family and friends of Arlene M.
