Cecelia Stefanski

Cecelia Stefanski (nee Bober) age 89, of St. Germain, Wisconsin, former resident of Highland, Indiana, passed away peacefully May 20, 2020, at Arden Court assisted living center, Palos Heights, Illinois.

Cecelia was born September 6, 1930 in Kakolowka, Poland and emigrated to Paris, France during WWII, where she married her late loving husband John Stefanski Dec. 26, 1949. The couple came to America in 1950 and eventually settled in Highland, Indiana.

Upon John’s retirement, they moved to their home in St. Germain permanently in 1998. Mrs. Stefanski is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Catherine Bober, and her late husband John, of 68 years.

Cecelia will live in the cherished memories of her six children Mary Kopec (Walter), Joseph (Yvonne), Frank (Sandy), Elizabeth Coleman (Joe), Anthony, and Stanley (Jill Verbich). She is the proud grandmother of Justin (Lauren) and Jenna Stefanski; Walter, Kevin, (Eleanor) and Michael (Lauren) Kopec; and great grandmother of Evelyn Stefanski and Andrew Kopec.

She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted mother, a manager of her household, and for her traditional culinary delights and wonderful sense of humor.

Funeral arrangements are being made through Acevez Memorial Home, East Chicago Indiana.

A funeral mass will be at St. Stanislaus Church, East Chicago, Indiana.

12 noon Thursday, May 28, 2020 with Fr. Steve Kozinski officiating.

A viewing will be Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 9am until the time of Mass.

From there, Cecelia’s final resting place will be beside her husband John in St. Germain, Wisconsin on Saturday, June 6th.
