Christian George Woelfel, 82, of College Station, passed away Monday February 11, 2019. His life was be celebrated with a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers.
Christian was born May 18, 1936, in Duran, Wisconsin, to Oscar and Mary Woelfel. He’s lived in the College Station area since 1978 and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station. Christian was retired Professor Emeritus of Dairy Science from the Texas A&M University Extension. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, American Dairy Science Association, and the Dairy Shrine.
Woodworking, reading, and training hunting dogs were some of his favorite hobbies. Christian was one of the most passionate Texas A&M Aggie fans you could meet. He loved everything Aggie and spent countless hours watching and rooting for all Texas A&M sports, men and women.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Woelfel, and his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Woelfel; daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Dan Monsivais, Sarah “Cathy” and Steven Davis, Deirdre and Gabriel Owens, Brenda and Randle Toepfer; sister, Katherine Wicker; grandchildren, Daniel Woelfel-Monsivais, Christian Woelfel-Monsivais and wife Jacqulin, Christine Woelfel-Monsivais, James Fields, Benjamen Fields, Katarina Toepfer; and great grandchildren, Benjamen Christian Fields Jr., Blake Lee Fields.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Brazos County Sheriff’s and EMT offices.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the St. Mary’s Catholic Center building fund, American Heart Association, or the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation the Woelfel Trust.
Graveside services for Chris will be held on Saturday, July 13th at 11:00 am at Lakeside Cemetery in Hazelhurst, WI.
