Dominik Charles Faciano
September 18, 1998 - September 28, 2021
Dominik Charles Faciano, 23, was born and raised in Elk Grove Village, IL and had recently relocated to St. Louis, Missouri to begin his career in Aviation. On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, while working for Surdex Corporation as a survey pilot/aerial sensor operator Dominik passed away in a plane crash near Eagle River, Wisconsin. Before becoming a Commercial Pilot, Dominik graduated from Elk Grove High School, class of 2017, where he was involved in the Auto Club program, became an ASE certified technician and was a Skills USA Member. Dominik played Hockey for 7 years with the Hoffman Estates Wolfpack and later served as the Assistant Captain for the High School PREP hockey team. Dominik was also an avid lover of the outdoors, was a member of Elk Grove High School’s Bass fishing team and spent many Summers Musky fishing with his family in Lake of the Woods, Ontario, hunting in the Fall in Southern, Illinois with his Dad, brothers and uncles and snowmobiling in the Winter in Northern Wisconsin with his best friend Alex. Domink had a strong work ethic that began at the age of 16, where he spent his summers as part of the seasonal crew for Leyden Township’s Highway Department and later worked as a Building Attendant for the Elk Grove Park District. Dominik’s hands-on skills and dedication to working for local municipalities also led him to a position with SIU’s Grounds and Facilities Department. For the past two summers, he drove for the American Ice Cream Truck Company, where he served frozen treats to both Southern Illinois and Northwest Kentucky.
During Dominik’s time at SIU, he was a proud member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) Fraternity where he made lifelong friends, partied hard, but also found time to continue to serve his fellow TKE community. He was an elected Treasurer, Historian and Scholarship Officer and later was part of the Housing, Homecoming and Alumni Relations Committees. In January of 2019 Dominik and his fellow TKE’s helped raise over $14,000 for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. On Dominik’s final flight, he was wearing his favorite TKE sweatshirt.
In May of 2021, Dominik graduated on the Dean’s List with an A.S. in Aviation Flight and B.S. in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s School of Aviation. He couldn’t wait to start flying airplanes with plans of becoming a Commercial Cargo Pilot.
Dominik will be greatly missed by his proud and loving parents Irene and Frank along with brothers Vincent and Sam Faciano and beloved dogs Clark, Walter and Wilson of Elk Grove Village, IL. Grandparents Anna Bajerski of Schaumburg, IL, Charles (Laura) Bajerski of Cary, NC, Frank (Peggy Jo) Faciano of Sun City West, AZ, Aunts Jackie (Jason) Doran of Jupiter, FL, Natalie Bajerski of Schaumburg, IL, Melissa (Jimmy) Kociuba of Shorewood, IL, Uncles Tony (Maria) Faciano of West Chicago, IL, Joe Faciano of AZ, and Matthew Bajerski of Mount Pleasant, SC. He will also be missed by his 9 cousins, extended family and many friends.
Dominik is now hanging out with his Nana JoAnn Faciano, Uncle Andrew Bajerski and furry friends Nikko and Stitch.
Until we meet again, Blue Skies and Tailwinds Kid!
