Don E. Deming

November 15, 1933 — January 21, 2017

Donald Edgar Deming, age 83 passed away in the emergency room at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield on Saturday, January 21, 2017. He had been a patient at Clark County Health Care & Rehabilitation Center the past 4 ½ years.

Don was born on November 15, 1933 to Attorney Wayne and Ella Deming in Cook County Illinois. Don attended Marshfield schools and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1951. He attended Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, WI in junior year of high school.
He served in the US Army, stationed at White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico; receiving an Honorable Discharge. Don attended UW Eau Claire and North Central Technical College for accounting.

He married Marie Kraus at Sacred Heart Catholic Rectory in Marshfield, WI. After college and marriage Don started Deming Trucking, moving to Abbotsford and hauling cattle all over the United States. After 10 years he sold the business and then worked as an accountant for Galvin Truck and Tractor in Abbotsford. They then moved to Minocqua, owning and operating Deming’s Resort on Fence Lake for 20 plus years.

While living in Abbotsford, Don and Marie hosted two foreign exchange students. One from West Germany and the other from South America. Don served on the Abbotsford School Board for 9 years, was a Boy Scout leader and a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
He loved camping when the kids were little, attending all of the kids football, basketball, baseball and volleyball games for many years. He loved his family and was always available for them. He dearly loved his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, as well as traveling, reading, yard work, boating and waterskiing.

He is survived by his Wife; Marie and 5 Children, 11 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren; Paul (Kim) Deming of Burnsville, MN and their children; Dominque and Max; David (Teresa) Deming of Afton, MN and their children; Arianna of Washington, DC; Kelia of University of North Carolina and Aliza of University of North Dakota and David Jr. of University of Minnesota; Richard (Lois) Deming of Minocqua, WI and Bozeman, MT and their children: Dr. Mark (Amber) Deming Campanelli and Ella and Gordon of Bozeman, MT and Jeff (Melissa) Deming Alger of Big Sky, MT; Amy (Jim) Deming Kommer of Pewaukee, WI and their children: Tyler and Leslie Kommer of Stoughton, WI; Capt. Tate and Katie Kommer and Luca of Destin, FL; Abby Kommer of Merton, WI; Marc Deming of Auburndale, WI and significant other Jaclyn Brand of Wausau, WI; Also survived by brother in laws Richard Kraus of Stratford, WI; Joseph Jr. and wife Darlene Kraus of Stratford, WI; and sister in law Betty Bartz of Tomahawk, WI and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; Wayne and Ella Deming and his in laws: Joseph and Dorothy Kraus.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 27th at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, WI with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
