Dr.Robert E. Hoehne

Robert Hoehne, age 90 of Minocqua, WI and Onalaska, WI died peacefully on December 19, 2018 at Avanti Health & Rehab Center under hospice care.
He was born July 20, 1928, the second child of Harry and Dorothy Hoehne in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Shurz High School and was drafted in 1950, the start of the Korean War and was trained as a medic at Fort Sam, Houston, TX. Upon his discharge in 1952, Robert attended the University of Illinois in Chicago under the GI bill. After receiving his B.S. he went on to dental school and the, post graduate work in Orthodontics.
Until his retirement he maintained an office in Morton Grove, IL for 30 years, creating many happy smiles. During that time he served as President of the Illinois Society, the Midwest society of Orthodontists, President of the Skokie Valley Kiwanis Club and sat on the Board of Directors for the professional division of United Way.
In 1962, Robert married Faye Fredrick of Manitowoc whom he met on a ski trip to Aspen, CO. Bob was an avid skier and even survived an avalanche in Switzerland. He taught his children to ski and took them on yearly trips out west.
Together, Bob and Faye enjoyed skiing and traveling to many parts of the world and the United States. Summers were spent on Tomahawk Lake since 1971 and Minocqua is where they loved to be. Hense, on retirement was to the “Cabin.” In later years, several months a year they lived in Onalaska, WI.
Robert enjoyed the fellowship of the Restless Weasels and was a member since 1995.
He is survived by his wife Faye, children: Cynthia Hoehne and Donna Murphy of Onalaska, WI; Rev. Mark (Cindy) Hoehne of Lancaster, WI; Dan Hoehne of Sebring, FL and Karen (John) Thompson of Minocqua, WI and by six granddaughters: Kelsie Imes, Emily and Morgan Hoehne, Natalie, Anna and Sarah Thompson and two great grandsons: Thoren and Grainger and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Carol and Lois and brothers: Harry and Richard, plus many good friends.
A memorial service for Robert will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Hospital for children.
