Elizabeth "Bette" Ann Bonnee (Welzien)

Elizabeth A. Bonnee (Welzien) of Arbor Vitae passed away on April 5th after a long battle with cancer. Bette was born on September 6, 1927 in Theinsville, Wisconsin to Servatius Demerath and Anna (Mielke) Demerath. She married Gerald “Jerry” John Welzien on June 7, 1947. They were married 49 years. Bette raised 5 children, while being an active member of the Christian Mothers at Holy Trinity Church in Newburg, WI. She also helped establish Pioneer Tool & Die and Hydrogen Arc welding in Cedarburg, WI with her husband, Jerry. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and gardening, as well as traveling. She later in life married Arthur “Art” Bonnee on September 7, 2001. During the six years of their marriage they enjoyed spending time with the great grandchildren.

Bette is survived by her 5 children; Jay (Irene) Welzien, Robert Welzien, Katherine (Edward) Reid, Rhonda (Dale) Strassburg and Daniel (Kari) Welzien and by 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild. Bette is further survived by 1 sister, Dorothy Gramoll and 1 brother, Donald Demerath. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; Jerry and Art, two brothers; Robert and Lawrence Demerath and three sisters; Joan Demerath, Bernadine Schulz and Mildred “Micky” Weiss.

Memorial Service for Bette will be held on Sunday, April 8th at 1:30 PM at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI with a memorial gathering from 12:30 PM till time of service.
