Elizabeth T. Buraglio

June 10, 1924 — January 18, 2015

Elizabeth T. Buraglio, age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls, WI. She was born June 10, 1924 the daughter of Italian immigrants, Victor and Pierina Buraglio Sr. Betha, as she was fondly called by family and friends, grew up in Park Falls, WI. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1942, she worked at Rabnovich’s Store, before enlisting in the Coast Guard SPARS on August 9, 1944.
She did her basic training in West Palm Beach, Florida; later continuing her tour of duty at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC and ending in St. Louis, Missouri. Betha posted ledgers for the U.S. government. She returned to Park Falls after completion of her tour of duty to work in the office at Munsingwear.
In the early 1950’s she moved to Minneapolis to work for Honeywell. While there she applied for and received certification to work for the Veterans Administration at Fort Snelling. She retired from the VA after 25 years of distinguished service.
She was an active lady playing centerfield for a women’s softball team in Minneapolis. She also bowled, playing weekly on a ladies’ league. Later in life she enjoyed watching TV, playing cards, and winning at Bingo.
Betha was preceded in death by her parents; her Sisters: Viola (Henry) Schmidt, Inez (Wilfred) Hammond, Celia Buraglio, and Della (Raymond) Oxley and Her Brothers: Louis (Evelyn), Victor (Betty), Sero and Ben0 (Irene) Buraglio, as well as two Nephews; Gary Oxley and Steven Buraglio.
She is survived by one Sister in law; Wilma Buraglio; Nieces: Susan Alexander, Renee (Dan) Potrykus and Cecelia (Bob) Jauch; and Nephews: Bruce (Cathy) Oxley, Vic (Bonnie), Bennis (Jean), Mike (Patty), Rocky (Barbara) and Greg (Joanie) Buraglio, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Military Rites and a family ceremony will be held at a later date at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls, WI.
