Jacquelyn Jean Walter

June 30, 1929 — December 26, 2020

Jacquelyn Jean Cripe Walter, Jaci as she was known to her family and friends, was given the gift of life on June 30, 1929. On December 26, 2020, at her home in the early morning hours, she passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord and the waiting arms of her beloved husband Albert Julian. Born to Verma Ford and Oliver Cripe, her journey in life began in Middlebury, Indiana. Jaci was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Bud and Jerry. She lovingly leaves behind her sister Dee Ann Todd. Always a Hoosier at heart, she lived not only in Indiana but Tennessee, Illinois and finally retired in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
She met her husband on a blind date and agreed to marry him after he threatened to jump off the roof of the Goshen hotel if she did not – all two stories. Not being able to refuse such a proposal they enjoyed 65 great years of marriage. At a family reunion she looked around and commented to her husband “look what we created” – 3 daughters, Pam, Pat and Paula, their husbands (her sons as she called them) Ken, Tom and Steve, her 10 grandchildren and her 25 great grandchildren.
Jaci worked as a bookkeeper and secretary, but her favorite job was when she was in high school working the switchboard for the phone company – she knew everything that was going on in Middlebury! While people are usually defined by their careers, she believed that we are defined by our family and the deeds we do throughout life. She had a gentle spirit and quiet strength, wicked sense of humor and undying sense of loyalty and unconditional love to for her family and friends. She was our greatest cheerleader through the good times and bad.
Christmas was her favorite holiday, and it is fitting that she joined our Lord the day after. Some of the fondest memories of that day was not only the feast that was prepared but the game playing. She had every edition of Password created and we shall always remember the exclaiming of Skipbo! She was an avid bridge player and a champion bowler.
Elegance is when the inside is as beautiful as the outside and that describes Jaci. She was a wonderful woman who was well loved and adored. She will be missed and always cherished.
Nimsgern Funeral & Cremation Services are providing the cremation services. In the Spring, Jaci will be buried in her hometown, Middlebury Indiana, with her husband in a private graveside ceremony. Our family’s thanks go out to Ascension Hospice for the wonderful care, kindness and support she and our family received in her final days. We ask that memorials be sent to Hospice.
