James "Jim" R. Gebert

James R. Gebert, 78, of Arbor Vitae, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff, WI. James was born January 8, 1935 in the Town of Little Black to Fred and Josephine (Peissig) Gebert. He was married September 25, 1965 to Caroline Capelle at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in the Town of Goodrich. He is survived by his wife, Caroline of Arbor Vitae; two sons, Ryan of Rhinelander and Randal of Minocqua; one daughter-in-law, Monica of Clayton; three grandchildren, Paul Dumonson of Woodruff, Adam of Minocqua, and Kayla of Clayton; one great grandchild, Conner Dumonson of Woodruff; one sister, Anita (Merlin) Maguire of Wisconsin Rapids; six brothers, Kenneth of Stetsonville, Melvin (Pat) of Medford, Donald (Marge) of Franklin, Gene (Leona) of Medford, Fred (Roseann) of Meridian, Idaho, and Dale (Marcy) of Hazelhurst; one brother-in-law, Clarence (Dolly) Schreiner of Athens; many cousins, many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy Schreiner. James was a 1953 graduate of Dorchester High School. After working on the family farm and at American Motors in Milwaukee, he began a career in construction. He worked for several construction companies including Janke Construction of Athens, Babl Construction of Schofield, and finally Wimmer Construction of Wausau. He retired in 2000 after 35 years in the construction industry. He was an avid lifelong fisherman and loyal Green Bay Packer fan. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Minocqua since moving to the Northwoods in 1978. A funeral service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m. Reverend James Hoogervorst officiated. Special thanks to the Ministry Home Care nurses and assistants (especially Deb H. and JoLynn) for their compassionate care and to the Seasons of Life Hospice House staff.
