Judith Ann “Judy" Hoover, 65 of Lac du Flambeau passed away at her home on Friday, September 17th, 2021.
Judy was born in Chicago, IL on December 20th, 1955 to Bill and Barb Halthen. She was raised in Cary, IL and graduated from Cary Grove High School in 1974. While in High School, Judy was an exchange student to Mexico City and she remained close with her Mexican family for her entire life. Judy also graduated from Western Wisconsin Technical Institute in 1976. She married Dan Hoover in October 1976, and they raised their children in Crystal Lake, IL. Judy moved to Lac du Flambeau, WI in 2010.
While raising her family in Crystal Lake, Judy was an active community member by helping fundraise and organize for the Prairie Grove School Activities Club. She also helped organize the Randal Oaks Golf Course Women’s golf league. Judy was a great musician playing piano often at home and playing flute in the Crystal Lake Community Band. Judy loved gathering with her many friends and relatives and she was always the life of the party. Her passions included golf, fishing, arts and crafts, traveling, playing cards, games, and gambling. She showed her children and their friends an amazing life while growing up. Judy took great care of many friends, family, children and elders throughout her life.
Judy is survived by her sister Lori Bruner of Buffalo Grove, IL, her brother Krist (Felice) Halthen of Cumming, Georgia, her son Bryan Hoover and his partner DanaRae Allen of Lac du Flambeau, her daughter Cary and son-in-law Josh Bruck, and her two grandchildren Henry and Audrey Bruck all of Colorado Springs, CO.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Barb Halthen, her brother Kevin “Bud” Halthen, and her brother-in-law Richard “Rick” Bruner.
Everyone is welcome to attend an open-house celebration of life at Judy’s Lucy Lake home in Lac du Flambeau on Saturday, September 25, 2021 any time after 1pm.
An open-house memorial will also be held in Crystal Lake, IL on Saturday, November 6th, 2021. More details to follow. Online condolences may be shared at nimsgernfuneral.com
