June Thiesen

June 19, 1938 — February 13, 2021

June Thiesen, 82, passed away peacefully at Angel’s Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI on February 13, 2021. For 13 months, she courageously battled pancreatic cancer. Her family and friends take comfort knowing that she is now in the loving arms of God in Heaven, thanks to her Savior Jesus Christ. June spent her school years on the Island of Minocqua. Her home was the Fisher Furniture Studio owned by her mother, Ruby Fisher Kennedy. June loved telling remarkable stories of her childhood in Minocqua, prizing her complete freedom and her genuine friendships that lasted a lifetime. Seven years after meeting him at the original Minocqua Baseball Park, June married John (Jack) Thiesen in 1960. After graduating from Minocqua High School, she attended Milwaukee-Downer College (BS in General Studies), and UW-Milwaukee (BS in Education). She taught at: Creative Play Care in Brookfield, Tonawanda Elementary School in Elm Grove, and Nicolet (NATC) in Minocqua. June was blessed with two children, who each married wonderful spouses: Lisa (Kevin) Tadych and Carl (Corinne) Thiesen. God also gave her additional joy with her with delightful grandchildren: Benjamin (Annalise) Tadych, Rebekah (Robert) Carsey, Carah Thiesen and Cory Thiesen, AND beautiful great-grandchildren; William & Christopher Tadych and Adaline Carsey. June treasured her nephew, Terrance (Phoung) Esser and niece, Nancy (Tracy) Wiesel. She was preceded in death by her husband John (Jack) Thiesen, her father, Rudy Goldschmid, her mother, Ruby Fisher Kennedy, her step-father, Earl Kennedy, her sister, Patricia Esser and niece, Dee Esser. June was a devoted Christian, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, Oma, teacher, friend, and neighbor. Her entire family was dearly loved and treated to loads of baked goods. They won’t soon forget her delicious cinnamon rolls, hot fudge sauce, & healthy baked bread. Throughout the years, June also had an incredible gift for hosting people at her home. It was her priority to maintain lifelong relationships with: family, friends from high school & college, former & current neighbors, colleagues, parents of students, and her beloved church family from both Elmbrook Church in Waukesha, and the last 26 years at Faith Evangelical Free in Woodruff. She was blessed by visitors, cards, emails and phone calls in the last months of her life and the words & conversations truly brightened her last days. The family would like to thank the many devoted friends and committed hospice caregivers at both Compassus and ProHealth who visited, assisted, and cared for June with such incredible professional excellence and unreserved compassion. Memorials may be sent to Faith Evangelical Free Church, PO Box 2059, Woodruff WI 54568 and will be used towards the welcoming committee (her passion). At her request, no formal memorial service will be held, but Faith will hold a tribute for her years of service in Spring. She will rest next to her husband & between her parents at PineLawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee. Special notes/memories would be appreciated and can be sent to the family via Nimsgern Funeral Home, PO Box 230, Woodruff, WI 54568 or preferably online at www.nimsgernfuneral.com.
