After a long and arduous journey to everlasting peace, Karen Ada Hamrick passed away in the early hours of January 12, 2020, her 75th birthday, surrounded by her loving family.
Karen was born to Clifford and Gertrude Naumann on January 12th, 1945, in Medford, Wisconsin. She often shared fond memories of her childhood, spent with the neighborhood children and her older brother, Dean. She married her high school sweetheart, Ron Hamrick, in 1962, and moved to the Minocqua area, where they were blessed with three children and 47 years of marriage until Ron's passing in 2009. She found a true second family made up of owners, coworkers, customers and friends while employed at Mama's Supper Club for almost three decades. She will always be remembered for her vibrant smile and hearty laugh heard across the dining room and her ability to make everyone around her feel so happy and special. In her spare time, outside of work and raising her children, she enjoyed gardening, making flower arrangements, reading, watching Westerns, and above all, playing cards with "the girls". Karen was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, and she will be deeply missed by her family and the countless hearts and souls she has touched over the years.
Karen is survived by her son, Jeff Hamrick (Mickey Joy), her daughters, Kim Hamrick (Chuck Pfeil) and Nekole Hamrick (Sean Maloney), her brother (Dean Naumann), and many other extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Gertrude Naumann, her husband, Ron Hamrick, and her father- and mother-in-law Gordon and Ingrid Hamrick.
Visitation will be held from 11:00AM to the time of service at 1:00PM, followed by a luncheon and celebration of life at Nimsgern Funeral Home in Woodruff. The family would enjoy hearing from those who wish to share a story or memory. Please feel free to wear purple if possible, as it was Karen's favorite color. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to your favorite charity in her memory.
The family would like to thank the staff and many caregivers at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Howard Young Medical Center, Avanti Health and Rehabilitation Center and Ascension Hospice. A special heartfelt thank you goes out to Karen's private caregivers and close friends for all of their love, kindness and support.
Mom, we thank you for being the person you were, for all that you taught us, for all that you gave us, and all the love you had for us; we are who we are because of you. We wouldn't trade the time we had with you for anything; we will hold you in our hearts forever.
All our love, Jeff, Kim and Nicky
