Kent Lee Petersen

Kent Petersen, who passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 will long be remembered by the lives he touched for his big smile, captivating stories, and ability to make anyone feel loved and welcome. Kent lived a full life, his tires were well-worn, and his face showed 62 years of laughter and sunburns.

Kent was born in Viroqua, Wisconsin and moved to Minocqua with his mother; Donna, father; Harley “Putter”, and his brother; Brad (Patty).

He enjoyed his childhood on Lake Minocqua, where he spent his days developing his love for nature, boating and photography.

Kent graduated from Lakeland High School and having an adventurous spirit, took a position building a sailboat in the south of France and continued to travel and saw much of the world over his lifetime. He later worked on a tuna fishing boat out of San Francisco, saw the country living out of his truck, and eventually made his way back to Wisconsin where he would become a competitive lumberjack and eventually meet his future wife, Lori.

Kent and Lori started Stoney Creek Garden Center among other ventures, and built a beautiful life in The Northwoods for their children; Erika (Charlie), Mark (Mollie), Andrea, Kara, and their beloved grandchildren; Nora and Harley.

Anyone that knew Kent, knows Heaven to him is the lake. Heaven is taking long cruises on his wooden boat, teaching his children to ski, and sunsets on the dock, red wine in hand, surrounded by his countless friends and family.

The Petersen family would like to thank everyone that shared kindness, prayers, and stories about Kent with our family over the past days. We ask that you hold close in your arms and your hearts your loved ones, especially those who struggle. And to find, within ourselves and within everyone we meet, the little things that make us all feel special & loved.

Memorial Services were held on Monday, June 24th at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI
