Lillian D. Bellow

October 13, 1926 — August 3, 2019

Lillian Bellow (92), passed away on August 2, 2019 in Woodruff, WI. She was born October 13, 1926 in Bellwood, IL to Albert & Helena Batko, as the youngest of nine siblings (Stella, Tony, Blanche, Frank, Mary, John, Rose, Joseph). After graduating from Proviso East High School in Maywood IL, she worked for the Air Force during WWII, followed by Bowl of Beauty in Melrose Park, IL.

She married the love of her life (Clarence) in May 1946. They shared a full & active life together; camping, fishing, dancing, and seeing the country with their friends, children & grandchildren. They retired to Wisconsin in 1987, where they enjoyed years on the lake before moving into town.

Lillian loved tending to her flowers, listening to books, waking up early & greeting everyone with a cheerful “Good Morning”. She was always a very social & positive person and never let her low vision stop her from excelling at all sorts of activities including bowling & basketball. She was an avid baker, famous for her cookies and cheesecake. She loved her coffee and had a bit of a sweet tooth; with a piece of chocolate always within close reach.

She was actively involved in many organizations throughout her life including: Red Hats, Lakeland Senior Center, Visually Impaired Persons, and Bellwood Family Campers.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Clarence and son-in-law Michael Zarzycki

She is survived by her three children: Dennis (Debbie Wozniak) Bellow, Peggy Zarzycki, Carol (John) Saraceno; six grandchildren: Marni (Scott) Chiero, Michael (Dana) Zarzycki, Dana (Casey) Franklin, Marc Zarzycki, John Saraceno, Jr., Danielle Saraceno; and three great grandchildren: Michael Thomas Zarzycki, Francesca & Riley Chiero; as well as close friends: Kyle Timmons and Jeanne Ericksen, as well as many other neighbors & friends who have helped her throughout the years.

The love she gave was matched only by the love she received from all that knew her. Her kind heart and warm smile will live on through all that knew her.
