Marvin D. Mattke

Sunday June 9, Marvin D. Mattke went home to the Lord at the age of 65. He passed quickly with his wife of 39 years, Lila Mattke, by his side. Marvin was born November 1, 1947 to Marvin and Bernice Mattke. He graduated from LUHS in 1965 and in 1967 joined the United States Airforce and served his country for over 6 years as an Avionics Technician. During his time in service he was flown all over the world to repair disabled aircraft. After he was honorably discharged from Service, Marvin was employed in the Lakeland area through the years at Simpsons Electric, Electro-Mel (as a design engineer) and Triumph Twist Drill. He retired when he was 60 years old. On May 4, 1974 he married his sweetheart Lila J Hella. In 1980 they were blessed with their only child, Jason R Mattke. Marvin enjoyed life through many activities such as flying RC planes, coaching hockey, wood carving, playing the harmonica, hunting, fishing, and camping. Marvin's life was filled with many stories from his childhood growing up in the lakeland area, to his Airforce and overseas service, and all of his hunting and fishing adventure thoughout his 65 years of life. He was a great man that made friends everywhere he went, and would go out of his way to help somebody in need. Marvin is survived by his wife, Lila Mattke, his son, Jason (Nichole) Mattke, his mother Bernice (Theodore) Mattke, and his sisters Kathleen (Dennis) Lueth and Linda (Jason) Hinz, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He also leaves behind his hunting dog in training, Tara, and his cat Missy. He will be deeply missed by all. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13th at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with Funeral Service and Military Rites starting at 6:00 PM.
