Mary Lee (Yeschek) Schuetz

March 18, 1951 — November 6, 2013

Mary Lee (Yeschek) Schuetz Mary Lee (Yeschek) Schuetz, 62, of Sarasota, Fla., and Minocqua, entered into eternal life Nov. 6, 2013, after a courageous eight-year battle with ovarian cancer. She defied all odds and was a warrior throughout her journey. Mary Lee was born March 18, 1951, in Wausau, to William and Mary Lou Yeschek and was married July 21, 1973, to Rob Schuetz in Lac du Flambeau. Rob and Mary Lee met as doubles partners on the Min-Aqua Bats water ski team. They enjoyed many days on the lake in northern Wisconsin, “God’s Country.” She is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin and friend. Mary Lee attended college at UW-Stevens Point, ran track and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in physical education. She worked at MHLT School in Minocqua as a physical education teacher for five years. She then started her family and dedicated her life to those she loved. Mary Lee was the epitome of strength, loyalty, a giving and selfless spirit and being the matriarch of her family. She was married for 40 years, raised four children and was the best Me Me to her eight grandchildren. One of Mary Lee’s greatest loves was her second family at Tervis Tumbler. Practically anyone that has ever known Mary Lee has been given a Tervis product as a gift. The art of gift giving was one where Mary Lee was the queen. Whether it was a Tervis, chocolate from her favorite shop or a plethora of monogrammed items, she had the ability to give the right gift at the right time and make others happy. Mary Lee split time between her home in Sarasota and Wisconsin. She loved lake life and summer sunsets, and watching her grandkids play at the beach or pool. Most of all, she welcomed anyone to her table. Friends and family knew her door was always open. She made other people better simply by being near her. She relied on her faith to guide her and was as kind, relentless and genuine as they come. She dedicated her entire life to her family and to placing others’ needs before her own, the definition of love. Mary Lee is preceded in death by her father, William Yeschek, mother, Mary Lou Yeschek, sister Judy Yeschek and sister Suzanne Yeschek. She is survived by her husband, Rob Schuetz; her four children, Mara Cakans (Willie Cakans), Lecia Wardle (Brian Wardle), Ryan Schuetz (Kate Schuetz) and Teryn Daysh (Joey Daysh); her eight grandchildren, Marlie Cakans, Macy Cakans, Mya Wardle, Emery Wardle, Davin Wardle, Avary Schuetz, Dunbar Schuetz and Ella Stone Daysh; two sisters, Janice Peckels and Tricia Gilchrist; three brothers, Ross Yeschek, Steve Yeschek and Billy Yeschek; step-mother, Jere Yeschek; and wonderful nieces and nephews. There will be a gathering on Saturday, November 16th at Holy Family Catholic Church from 10 a.m.to 12:00 Noon with a Mass at 12:00 Noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The Schuetz Family at 173 Cipriani Way, North Venice, FL 34275. Her family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful care she received on a medical and personal level from Dr. Brown, Dr. Krinsky, Dr. Fioricia, Maggie, Shawn, Peggy and the countless other nurses and medical staff who were committed to providing her care.
