Obituary for Michael V. Wonn

Michael Vincent Wonn, 70, of Arbor Vitae, died December 1st, 2013. He was born February 28th, 1943, in Madison, Wisconsin. At 18, Mike graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He continued his education in Theology at St. Anthony’s in Marathon, Wisconsin. He went onto Crown Point, Indiana and then Alaska. Michael returned to the states and briefly worked for the state of Wisconsin. He then embarked on a teaching career working in Hawaii. Mike found his passion in teaching underprivileged children. His dedication and strong commitment instilled the desire for many young children to further their education. In Hawaii, Michael spent 20 years in the United States Air Force Reserves. He served active duty in the Persian Gulf. He received Air Reserve Forces Meritorious and the Air Force Longevity Award. He was honorably discharged in June 2001. Mike enjoyed camping in his volkswagen bus and entertaining family and friends while singing with his guitar. Mike’s interest in learning was vast and continuous throughout his life. Surviving are his mother, Catherine, brothers; Stephen (Sounantha) and Timothy (Mary Ann), sister, Mary. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was prededed in death by his father Vincent. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 6th, 11:00 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Woodruff. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Salvation Army. Online condolences, may be shared at Nimsgern Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements.
