Nora V. Wildcat

May 27, 1930 — March 29, 2014

Nora Wildcat, age 83 of Lac du Flambeau, WIPassed away peacefully at her home in Lac du Flambeau surrounded by her loving children on March 29th.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, William Wildcat, Sr. Parents, William J Chapman and Nellie (Hebden) Chapman, 1 grandson and 1 great-granddaughter, 4 sisters and 7 brothers
Survived by 6 children, Denise Wildcat, William(Julie) Wildcat, Jr, Deidre Whitebird, Joseph (Sarah) Wildcat, Sr, Desiree Wildcat and Danelle Wildcat. Special daughter, Mary (Dallas) White. Also survived by 1 brother, Llewelyn (June) Chapman and 2 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Greene and Mae White and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She married William in 1950 and relocated to Chicago, Illinois. She lived there for 12 years and moved back to Lac du Flambeau in 1963. She raised her children until she started working with the tribe in various positions, Tribal Planner, Elder cook, and Bingo manager. She also served on the Tribal Council, Health board and Election board for the tribe. She was active in the politics for the good of the people and if there was a need, she was always willing to help get the job done. This work ethic lives on in her children.
She loved to travel and her last trip was to Niagara Falls, NY, a place she only dreamed about. Her children made it a reality last summer and she said it was a dream come true. Her happiest times were spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Liz Perrone, CJ White, Dr Adrienne Laverdure, Dr Matthias Weiss, Marshfield Oncology department, Hospice, Vilas County COPS program and the friends and family for their undying devotion and care of Nora.
For all that knew her and loved her, you will have fond and long-lasting memories that will help guide you through this difficult time.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau, WI with burial at Memorial Cemetery.
