Obituary for Norman W. Glauner

Norman (Norm) Glauner, 84 of Hazelhurst, WI passed away on Friday, January 18th, 2013, at the Howard Young Medical Center. Norm served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He continued in civil service with the Morton Grove Police Department for 28 years, serving 11 years as Chief of Police. For several years he even coached little league. Norm was a dedicated husband and father who always put his family first. At the age of 52 he retired in the Northwoods where his family had spent many years vacationing to enjoy his lakeside home in Hazelhurst. Not one to ever sit idle, Norm drove a Lakeland school bus for another 15 years. During his final years, Norm took every opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, played horseshoes, split lumber, and took great pleasure in feeding the wildlife. Norm will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Norm is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Norma Jean (Jean) of Hazelhurst; his children, Susan (Brett) Grams of St. Germain; sons, Louis (Mary) Glauner of Madison; Michael (Karen) Glauner of Stoughton; William Glauner of Eagle River; brothers, Leroy (Mickey) Glauner of Northfield, IL; Martin Glauner of Northbrook, IL; Warren Glauner of Tacoma, WA; sisters, Lavern Call of Athens, WI; Elaine (Bob) Barber of Glenview, IL; and many loving and devoted grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family; and most treasured friend, Nancy Lanning of Morton Grove, IL. Norm was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Clara Glauner and daughter Janet Geddes. Visitation will be from 9:00 am. until noon at Trinity Lutheran Church (off of Highway J in Minocqua, WI) on Friday, January 25th. Funeral services will immediately follow at Trinity Lutheran Church from noon until 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
