Rachel March

May 26, 1927 — February 14, 2013

Rachel March, long time resident of the Northwoods, passed away February 14, 2013, after a short illness. Born Rachel Hrabik in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin on May 26, 1927, Rachel grew up helping in her father’s cheese factory and watching the Green Bay Packers at City Stadium. She was Queen of the Prom at Algoma High School in her junior year. After graduation, she attended Lawrence College. Rachel followed her parents to Lac du Flambeau in 1950. She married Robert March on January 4, 1958. They began married life living on a mink farm in Lac du Flambeau, where Bob was manager. They later moved to Fence Lake, when Bob joined Rachel’s father at Village Hardware in Lac du Flambeau. Rachel and Bob moved to Woodruff in 1966. Rachel owed a home-based drapery business and later was the secretary/bookkeeper for the Capstone Graphics department at Lakeland High School for 21 years. After retirement, she became bookkeeper at Clearwater Camp, retiring again in 2007. Rachel is survived by her daughter Ruth (Paul) De Rego of Albuquerque, NM; sons Steve (Dianne) March of Monument, CO, and John (Dawn) March of Stevens Point; and grandchildren Christopher and Kathryn De Rego, Olivia, Elizabeth, and Thomas March, and Nicholas, Michael, and Matthew March. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Roy and Alvina (Ripley) Hrabik; and her brother, Roy Dean Hrabik. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, with visitation starting at 10 am.
