Ronald Vincent Havranek, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Saturday December 6th 2014
He was born June 28, 1932 in Chicago, IL the son of Adolph and Dorothy (Lewis). Ron grew up in the Chicagoland area and attended Carl Shurz High School. It was there in 1948 that he met his future bride Gloria (Sitarz).
After graduating in 1950, Ron enlisted with the United States Air Force and was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, served in Japan, and received numerous medals.
Ron and Gloria married on October 9, 1954 at St. Viator Church in Chicago, IL and moved to Mount Prospect, IL, where they raised their two daughters.
Ron and his family spent their summers vacationing in Minocqua, and after a 35 year career with the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, he retired at the age of 55, and he and Gloria built their dream home on Lake Kawagasaga. Here he enjoyed a second career as a real estate broker.
In 2004 Ron realized a lifelong goal and acquired his private pilot license. He was an avid photographer
and had a real passion for the game of golf.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Dorothy (Lewis) Havranek. He is survived by his loving wife Gloria; daughter Linda (Bill Perry); daughter Cindy (Joe) Lindeman; beloved cat Toby; sister Marjorie Jung; nephews Barry and Dennis (Pat) Jung; niece Joan (Steve) Johnson.

Ron was a loving husband and father, and friend to many. The time we were given with him we will cherish always.

A memorial service will be held at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 12, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services at 1 p.m.
