Ruth Margaret Mikich

Ruth M. Mikich, age 78 of Wausau, formerly of Minocqua, passed away May 2, 2013 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau, WI, due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. Ruth was born August, 13, 1934 in Ely, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mari Kivipelto. She married Arden Mikich on December 14, 1957 in Ely. She attended Ely High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, MN where she earned her RN degree. She returned to Ely and worked as a Registered Nurse at the Ely Winton Hospital, until her marriage to Arden, who worked for the US Forest Service, and served in the US Army. Besides her husband, Arden, she is survived by two daughters, Marcia Mikich of Milwaukee, WI and Liisa (Terry) Hill of Prior Lake, MN; sisters Evelyn Groe of Maplewood, MN and Irma Riikola of Ely, MN, sister-in-law, Marge Kivipelto of Jacksonville, FL as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Oiva and Aimo Kivipelto, brother-in-laws Arnold Riikola and Richard Groe and sister-in-law Lota Kivipelto. Funeral Services for Ruth will be held 11:00 AM, May 8, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church, ELCA in Minocqua, WI. The Reverend Maxine Gray will officiate. Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery at Spooner, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN or Calvary Lutheran Church, ELCA, Minocqua, WI. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Mount View Care Center and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, Wausau.
