Ruth V. Skory

Ruth V. Skory, age 90 of Minocqua, WI died peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Avanti Health and Rehab. In her last days she was cared for with compassion and love.
She was born July 28th, 1924 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Art and Veronica (nee Malik) Moser. She married her husband, “Hank” Henry Skory in 1948. Soon after, they purchased a resort called, “Shady Lane” on Moon Lake near the Michigan/Wisconsin border. After five years they sold it, and returned to Milwaukee for the next 17 years. Once again after Hanks retirement they moved North and settled in St. Germain in 1969, where they enjoyed 26 years with community and friends. In 1997 they moved to Minocqua where Ruth’s beloved Hank passed away at home that same year, one year short of their 50th wedding anniversary.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hank; parents; Art and Veronica and her Brother, Eugene Moser and Sister, Charlotte Schauer.
She is survived by her Sister-in-law, Marcella Moser and Nieces, Nephews and many, many friends.
Ruth is known for her wit and wisdom. She loved gardening and had so many beautiful flowers. She was passionate about knitting, crocheting, cooking and having things organized.
She loved to travel with Hank to the U.P. and Canada; after Hanks passing, Sister Teresa Schueller was a great travel companion and supporter of her needs. Her friend, Mary Poer was a great friend and advocate for humor, shenanigans and fun over the 18 years they knew each other.
Ruth will be missed by many; but the memories of her jokes, twinkle in her eye, wisdom and laughter will keep her close to our hearts.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 14th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, WI from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM with Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be in the spring at St. Germain Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice; as you know Ruth was a great humanitarian and cared for so many.
