They missed the Mid-West area, so they moved back to the Northwoods in the 1970’s and made it their permanent home.
Sonja and her husband led an active life, and were involved in Square Dancing for several years with a group called the “Square Wheelers”, who had lots of picnics and get togethers besides dancing. They also were involved in several bowling leagues. Sonja loved animals, and had many dogs, and her husband taught her to horseback ride. He even bought them each a horse. She loved to sew, quilt, and crochet things for her family and friends. This included several hundred little finger sized dolls for the police to give to little girls during stressful times. She was a member of the “Ladies of the Lakes Quilt Club”, and participated in some of their quilt shows.
