Wilho Victor Makim 94, Brantwood, Wisconsin, died in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He was born in Brantwood, Wisconsin, on July 9, 1920, the son of John and Aino Maki. He attended the Tripoli High School. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army 457 Ord Evac Company in the European Theater of Action. Following his war time service he was employed by the SOO Line Railroad as a Section Crewman until the time of his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Southern Price County VFW Post No. 8491. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, hunting, and road trips around the country.
He is survived by four nieces, Lillian Lammi, Paula Bradenb, Lisa Kestler, and Laura Maki; and by four nephews, Richard “Dick” Maki, James Maki, William “Bill” Maki, and Robert “Bob” Maki. He is preceded in death by one brother, Tauno Maki; and by one sister, Paula Nyberg.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, at the Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice with Pastor Gary Uttech officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Southern Price County V.F.W. Post No. 8491. Interment will be in the Prentice Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, February 21, after 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.
