Bronislaus "Brownie" Nowakowski, age 94, N11445 Cty. Rd. A, Tomahawk, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Golden Living Center - Golden Age in Tomahawk.
Brownie was born March 13, 1914 in Milwaukee, the son of Albert and Mary (Bohenek) Nowakowski. He was a life-long resident of Milwaukee before moving to Tomahawk in 1973. He was a Firefighter for the City of Milwaukee for 35 years, retiring as Captain in 1972. Brownie married Eleanore Talakowski on October 3, 1936 in Milwaukee. He was an avid biker, and was known as "the bike man", biking until he was 90 years old. Brownie was well-known at Clear Lake Park, enjoyed berry picking, and was an avid walleye fisherman. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk.

Brownie is further survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 3 sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Brownie Nowakowski will be held at Noon on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. Edward Powell and Deacon Darrell Smerz will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at Noon.
