Donald J. Winninghoff, age 85, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. A proud Wisconsin native, Don lived a life defined by his devotion to his family and his appreciation for the Northwoods.
Life and Legacy
Born on March 10, 1940, in West Bend, Wisconsin, Don spent many years in Appleton, where he raised his family and established deep roots in the community. Don was a member of the American Legion, Elks, and Knights of Columbus. Upon his retirement in 2000, he and his wife moved to Woodruff to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of northern Wisconsin.
Family
Don’s greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, and his two daughters, Heidi Quicksilver and Laura (Robert) Grimm. He was also the world’s proudest grandfather, survived by his granddaughter whom he absolutely adored.
Service Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff.
A larger Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to further honor Don's memory and share stories among friends and family.
Memorial Donations
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Don’s name to Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff, Wisconsin.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Seasons of Life for their compassionate care and support during Don's final days.
