Gary Jon Beier (85) Lac du Flambeau, WI passed away on August 9, 2026 of a brain injury. He was born in Milwaukee on April 7, 1941 to Archie and Evelyn Beier. Growing up, Gary played the accordion and delivered the Milwaukee Journal. In 1959 he graduated from Pulaski HS where he ran cross country & track. Gary continued his education at Marquette University, graduating with a DDS degree in 1965.

While on a family vacation in 1960 he met June Vodicka. They were married in North Riverside IL on June 22, 1963. Happiness is being married to your best friend.

Gary served in the US Navy as a dentist at the MCB in 29 Palms CA. He earned his Orthodontic degree at Indiana University and opened his practice of 30 years in Wausau WI. There he served on multiple community boards and on the Rothschild Village Board.

Gary and June and their children, Charlie and Linda, and their pets, enjoyed their home on Ike Walton Lake. As a family they traveled the USA & the Bahamas with Gary piloting his plane or riding motorcycles. They hosted Rotary exchange students. A notable trip with their German family was to East Berlin, one year before the Wall came down. Rafting the Grand Canyon with son Charlie was a highlight.

Over the decades Gary loved flying, snowmobiling, skiing, scuba diving, motorcycling, boating on Lake MI, and Corvettes. Since retiring Up North, quality time as Papa/Pop-Pop to his 4 grandchildren was a top priority. Following closely was driving his tractor in all seasons, caring for his lawn, walking the dogs (especially Ace), church finances, lake association duties, choral groups, polkas, reading, the computer and being “Mr. Fix-It” in his garage workshop. One last hurrah was motorcycling 6 times with June as his passenger between LdF and his home in Carefree AZ.

Gary was always an honest, hardworking and helpful person.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June; son Charlie (Amy) Payson AZ; daughter Linda (Marty) Latz Scottsdale AZ & LdF; grandchildren Molly Wilk (Matt) Seattle WA; Madelyn Beier, Jason and Valerie Latz (all of Scottsdale). He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Arlyn.

To honor Gary’s love of motors and power tools, buy yourself a tank a gas and think of him.
