Gary Janak

Gary Janak, 67, of Phillips passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI, from complications associated with multiple myeloma. Gary was born to the late Kathryn (Palko) Janak and
Steve Janak on November 11, 1954.

Gary grew up in Phillips, WI, and was a graduate of Phillips High School Class of 1972. Following high school, he attended NTC in Wausau, WI, where he received his welding certification. After college, he started a logging and dairy farm with his dad. Later, his brother Bill joined in the logging business. After high school, Gary was active in softball, playing for the Emery softball team and playing in several pool leagues.

Gary married his wife of 44 years Patti (Hainy) Janak on September 23, 1978. Together they had three children Michael (Emily) Janak, Nicholas (Laura) Janak, and Pamela (Jared) Kimpling, and seven grandchildren. Gary never let his cancer diagnosis define him. He enjoyed sharing life on the farm with his grandkids, raising chickens, riding ATVs, hunting, and endless deer-watching. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

There will be a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home, 284 Chestnut Street, Phillips, WI 54555. Visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 6, 2022, 9:30 a.m. until the start of service. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be directed towards the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of Gary.
