George Brown

George T. Brown, age 67, of 1617 Theiler Drive, Tomahawk, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at his home. George was born on January 6, 1941 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Jesse and Theresa Brown. He married Mary Lescallette on August 5, 1961 in Weirton, West Virginia. George served 4 years with the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1967. In 1973, George and his family moved to Tomahawk where he was employed with Owens-Illinois as a purchasing manager until his retirement. As a result of his service to industry and community he was selected to receive the Ray H. Cross Community Service Award from the Paper Industry Management Association in 1988. George served 2 terms on the Tomahawk School Board, was a member of the Zoning Appeals Board and the Tomahawk Fire and Police Commission. He was also very active at the United Methodist Church in Tomahawk. In his spare time George enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and ATVing. Survivors include: Wife, Mary 2 Daughters, Collette Brown Wausau Shannon (Joe) Radtke Tomahawk 1 Sister, Theresa Behrens Cameron, WV 2 Brothers, Robert (Deborah) Brown Cameron, WV John (Nancy) Brown Cameron, WV George is further survived by 2 Grandchildren, Lauren and Greg Radtke. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Tom and a brother-in-law, James. Memorial Services for George Brown will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Allen Christensen will officiate.
