 Helen Marie Marcis, 85, passed away at home on Thursday, January 8, 2026. 

Helen was born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin to Florence and William Koskela. After an amicable split, Florence married Elmer Rennhak who then adopted Helen. 

She lived in Rhinelander, WI and graduated from Rhinelander High School. She went on to graduate from Whitewater College in 1963 with a teaching degree. She began her teaching career in Wausau, WI teaching typing and shorthand to high schoolers. Later, she taught in Lacrosse, WI. She frequently went with her mother and stepfather to the races in Tomahawk, WI. That is where she met the love of her life, Dave Marcis. He took her fishing on their first date. Helen retired from teaching in 1968 when she and Dave moved to North Carolina so he could pursue his dream of NASCAR racing. While Dave was racing, Helen did his bookwork, made hotel reservations, wrote paychecks to employees, and many other tasks. She also took care of their home and children. Helen had a passion for the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. She was able to attend many games to watch both of her favorite teams play. She also loved music and playing the piano. She taught her children and grandchildren how to play.

 Helen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dave Marcis. She is also survived by her children, Shawn Beam (Sam) and Richard Marcis (Koloma); grandchildren, Emma, Hanna, and Luke Beam; brother, Rick Koskela (Meg) and sisters Sandy Schultz (Joe) and Susie Winter (Larry), as well as several nieces and nephews.

 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 3:00 pm at Living Savior Lutheran Church in Asheville, NC.

 Helen's wish was to be buried near her parents in Tomahawk, WI. That service will take place on Saturday, May 23, at Krueger-Nimsgern Funeral Home in Tomahawk, WI. There, the family will receive friends and family from 9:00-11:00. Burial will be at 12:00 at Greenwood Cemetery followed by a lunch at Camp 28 in Rib Lake, WI.

 In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Boxer Butts and Other Mutts in Arden, NC or to the charity of your choice.
