James Robert Postl, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026 at Riverview Health Services. Born on September 8, 1950 in Spokane, Washington to Robert and Vivian (Smith) Postl. Jim lived a life defined by kindness, curiosity and a deep love for those around him. He was married to Linda Eisenzimmer until her death.

Jim had a gift for connecting with people. Whether through a conversation, a story, or shared laugh, he made others feel welcome and valued. His love of travel led him to California, where he spent 40 years building a life and many lasting friendships. A lifelong music enthusiast, Jim played trombone in several bands and found joy in brining people together through music. An avid reader with interests that spanned countless subjects, Jim was always eager to learn something new and share it with others. Those who knew him appreciated his thoughtful nature, warm heart, wit, and genuine interest in people.

Above all else, Jim loved his family. Becoming a grandfather was one of the greatest joys of his life. He returned to Tomahawk in 2011 after his retirement to help care for his aging father. Jim enjoyed reconnecting with his family and friends and the community he called home.

Surviving Jim is his son, Jason (Andrea) Postl of AZ; two step children, Vicki Mariger, CA and Charlei Riddle, CA; his siblings, William “Skip” Postl, Mount Vernon, WA; Robert (Bonnie) Postl Jr., Greenville, WI; Steve Postl, Kenosha, WI; Gerard “Gerry” (Barb) Postl, Eau Claire, WI; sisters, Mary (Mike) Smith, Tomahawk, WI; Polly Kahle, Tomahawk, WI; Barbara (Dean) Hoium, Brooklyn Park, MN. Jim is further survived by 9 grandchildren, Brooke, Preston, Brent, Audrey, Stephan, Mila, Maksim, Madison, and Dean.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Todd Kahle, and special friend Tricia Derleth.
