Jane Arverlla Lamer passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, she was 92 years old.
Jane was born February 28, 1933, to Arvilla (Callsen) and August Crass. She graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1951 where she was a member of the band, a baton twirler and a cheerleader. She earned her associate degree from the American Medical Record Association. She worked in Milwaukee for several years and then at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk for 45 years; a place she loved to work at and where she made many life-long friends. She retired in 2011.
Jane married the love of her life, Vernon F. Lamer, May 2, 1959, in Milwaukee. They had five wonderful children together, they all survive.
She was a member of the American Medical Record Association and held positions on several organizations both locally and statewide. She was a member of the Tomahawk Hockey Association and served on the Board of Directors. She was a member of St. Mary’s Home and School, held many positions with them and served on St. Mary’s Parish Council. She served on Tomahawk Booster Club Board of Directors and was a strong supporter of Tomahawk sports and activities. She was an original member of St. Mary’s Circle since 1961, belonged to several other Bridge Clubs and continued playing bridge up to her last few weeks. She belonged to the Snowmobile Club along with her husband, Vern, that started the first snowmobile races in Tomahawk.
Jane was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and her strong faith carried her through.
Jane enjoyed playing bridge and valued the many close friends she made through the clubs. She loved to knit, operated a knitting shop out of her home for many years, and her family treasures the many things she lovingly knit for them over the years. She was an avid reader, always had a book sitting by her chair and was well known at the library. She was passionate about sports, especially the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers. She was also a devoted Tomahawk hockey fan and helped get the first concession stand started when her son played hockey. She loved going to the casino where she was well-known by the staff and to Las Vegas before her husband passed. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was the happiest when they were all gathered at her home, especially for the 4th of July parties and for Holidays.
She will be remembered for her positive attitude, strength and optimism; she had an amazing ability to persevere and never give up, and she instilled that in her family. Everyone who knew Jane, knew they had a friend for life – she was their best supporter and never forgot them.
Jane is survived by her five children: Debi (Larry) Winkelman, Tomahawk; Vicki (John) Ament, Palmer, Alaska; Barb (Jim) Kluball, Marshfield; Teri (Bob) Schoone, Tomahawk; and Patrick (Lisa) Lamer, Tomah. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Jennifer Winkelman (Jim) Ziesig, Shane (Stacy) Winkelman, Heather Ament, Michael (Laura Burkhardt) Kluball, Sarah Kluball (Matt) Peterson, David (Elyssa) Kluball, Adam (Leah Foster) Schoone, Rachel Schoone (Jake) Hawkins, Katy Lamer (Alex) Schwller, and Alyssa Lamer (Issaiah) Paulson.
