Jerry Lockwood, 87, of Woodruff, WI passed away on Friday, Oct. 2. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. Jerry was born at Copley Hospital in Aurora Illinois on Dec. 5, 1938 to Florence Lockwood (Goist) and Zerrell Lockwood.
As a young boy, he loved anything with a motor and that passion grew into a fairly long hobby of go kart racing earning him the title of The Flying Milkman. He also enjoyed four wheel rock crawling in the southwest after retirement.
Jerry graduated Plainfield High School in 1957 where he played the saxophone in the marching band and the dance band. He worked for Lockwood Dairy summers and every weekend while in high school and upon graduation he went to work for the dairy full time. He also owned Jacks Frill with his sister Helen and brother in law, Charles Pottorff for a few years around 1963. Later in 1963 he purchased Lockwood Dairy from his father and aunt. He ran the dairy until he sold it in 2008. I would like to acknowledge the hard word of his manager, Greg Mathena and his secretary Susan Bostanche. Thanks to them, he was able to semi-retire in his late 50’s. He and his wife enjoyed spending their winters traveling the southwest in their motorhome for almost 26 years.
In 2000 they sold their home in Plainfield and moved to their lake home in Lac du Flambeau, WI. Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years Linda (Behl) Lockwood, Daughters, Terri Foster, Tracy Baranoski, and Allison Lockwood. Grandchildren Austin Foster (Megan), Kyle (Fiance Sarah Eldred), Brek Baranoski and Corp. Brooklyn Baranoski USMC and great grandchildren, Jane and Wilson Foster and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandmother and Serrell Lockwood, his sisters Helen Wheeler and Joan Hintzsche, his beloved son in law Craig Foster, his brother in law, Jack Behl and his beloved nephew David Hintzsche.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 5, 2027. Visitation 10-11 AM, followed by a service and a catered luncheon at Nimsgern Funeral Home in Woodruff, WI if anyone cares to leave a memorial, St. Judes and Tunnel to Towers were close to Jerry’s heart.
