Joan Hlavacek

Joan Hlavacek, 83, of Phillips passed away on February 10, 2024, at Aspirus Care and Rehab Center in Medford, WI. She was born on November 26, 1940, to Edwin and Edna (Molid) Oesau.

She married Joe Hlavacek on July 11, 1959, in Racine, Wisconsin. She was a homemaker while her sons were young and went to work as a Legal Secretary once they were older. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, and hunting.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; sons, Michael (Pennie), Steven (Michelle), and Jamie (Lori); grandchildren, Josh, Garret, and Emily; great-grandsons, Cain, and Ayden; brothers, Donald (Shirley) Oesau and Jim (Judy) Oesau; sister, Shirely (Keith) Longenhagen; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Saint John Lutheran Church, 120 Forest Avenue, Phillips, WI 54555. Visitation will begin two hours prior to service. Inurnment will take place in the spring in Two Lakes Cemetery in Phillips. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
