Joyce A. Lukes, 83, of Ogema, passed away on May 31, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. Joyce was born on November 4, 1938, in Catawba, WI, to Frank and Martha (Weyers) Kurth.
She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Catawba before graduating from Phillips High School. Joyce married Dennis Lukes and they took over the Lukes' family farm and they would go on to farm and log until retirement. Joyce and Dennis enjoyed retirement by gambling, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and making Sunday supper.
She is survived by her children, Rick (Anna) Lukes, Nancy (Ken) Wanish, and Jani (Nick) Lallemont; grandchildren, Lane, Brook (Owen), Brandi (Lisa), Beth (Casey) Moore, Kylie (Jarrett) Knutson, Kurt (Stephanie), Danielle (Bill) Bogdan, Brent (Rachel) Nikkila; 9 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jerome Kurth.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; daughter, Katina; parents; infant granddaughter, Cassandra; and siblings, Kathryn, Rheta, Mary Ann, Patsy, Vince, and Marvin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, W9485 Highway 8, Catawba, WI, 54515, with Father Lourdu Madanu Raju officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Catawba, WI.
Joyce would like to thank Rick, Anna, Jani, and Nick for providing care so she may stay in her home until the end. The family additionally thanks Millie Godfrey, Marilyn Van De Voort, and the staff at Home Health and Hospice MMC-Park Falls. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
