Joyce M. Bacholl

Joyce M. Bacholl, 86, of Prentice, WI, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord with her family by her side, on April 18, 2023. She was born in the family cabin in Westboro, WI, to Joseph and Viola (Kirchmeier) Guzinski, on August 27, 1936. 

Joyce graduated from Prentice High School in 1954, stayed home, and helped with the family bar (Joe's Bar) for one year before heading to college at St. Joseph School of Nursing, graduating in 1958. After her graduation, she and Lester Bacholl were united in marriage and with that union, they had seven children. She had worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk for a year and a half, then in October of 1967, she was asked to come help out at the new Pleasant View Nursing home in Phillips. She had been a Charge Nurse and moved up to an MDS Coordinator, and after working there for 43 years, she retired. 

Joyce was a devout member of St. John Catholic Church, an organist for years, one of the first Eucharistic Ministers, and scripture reader. Her faith and family were of upmost important to her. She loved to crochet, read, work for the blood mobile, and travel with trips to Poland and Medjugorje.

She is survived by her children, David, Laurie, Michael, Lisa, Joseph, Daniel, and Christine; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Kokstis and Margaret "Peg" Bant; sister-in-law, Sue Guzinski; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, James and John Guzinski; one grandson, Jeremiah Bacholl; nephew, Wayne Guzinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 935 Town St, Prentice, WI 54556, with Father Lourdu Madanu officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am and continue until the time of the service at the church. The burial will be in Prentice Cemetery. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
