Kay F. (Morren) Schoone, age 89, is now free from Alzheimer’s Disease, and by the Grace of God walked her final journey home on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Kay was born on December 12, 1936, in Tomahawk to Eli (Sr.) and Gertrude Morren.
Kay grew up in “French Town” where she became an excellent swimmer and enjoyed fishing in the Wisconsin River. Kay was a lifelong resident of the Tomahawk and Harrison areas until April 17, 2019. On September 28, 1963, Kay married the Love of Her Life, Peter D. Schoone, and they have four children Mike, Sue, Denise and Dave. Kay and Peter lived in Harrison, on the family farm where Peter worked alongside his brother Jerry. Kay and Peter worked side by side raising their children and Kay helped on the family farm. In August 1991, she started working for the Tomahawk School District. The fall of 1992 Peter retired from farming. They moved to Tomahawk so Kay could be closer to her job as a Special Education Paraprofessional until her retirement in January 2014. Kay enjoyed and was involved in Special Olympics and with the Backpack Program. Kay was also an avid Packer Fan and could hardly stand to be in the room watching if the Packer’s score was close, tied or went into overtime. In her later years, she was an avid Brewer fan as well. Kay and Peter were married 57 years and enjoyed their time together going for walks, fishing, biking and snowmobiling, but, most of all, took great pride in spending time with their growing family.
Kay is survived by their four children – Mike (Roxanne) Schoone, Susan (Jon) Koch, Denise (Scott) Delzer and David (Gayle) Schoone; 9 grandchildren – Kyla, Kelsy, Katy, Hayden, Victoria, Mindy, Wayne, Nathan, Stephanie; and 17 great grandchildren – Corynn, Casey, Channing, Colt, Cecilia, Charlize, Archer, Brando, Wesley, Lilliana, Hazel, Finn, Stevie, Louis, Avery, (special family friend Hunter), Ximena and Xochitl.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, and was the last surviving member of her (Morren) family. Kay was preceded in death by her parents Eli Sr. and Gertrude Morren and brothers and sisters: Dorothy, Grace, Virginia, Bess, Roger, Eli Jr., Robert and Nancy. Also, preceding Kay in death was special family member, Mathew Kahle.
Kay was a resident of Rennes Health and Rehab, in Rhinelander, from April 2019 until her final journey home. There are not enough words to Express Our Heartfelt Gratitude to the Staff of Rennes for the “around the clock” love, care and friendship you gave our mother over the years she resided there.
We will never forget you!
Thank You to Aspirus Hospice for the comfort and care given to Kay and the family during her final days.
A Private Family Memorial Service is being planned for Kay. She will be buried alongside her husband, Peter, at St. Augustine Cemetery, in Harrison.
