LADDIE W. HOLOUBEK
Laddie Wilson Holoubek was born on August 14, 1927, at Phillips, WI. His parents were Joseph and Frances Holoubek. He died on Friday, April 24, in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips.
He attended the Phillips Schools. He was also a graduate of Wausau Tech and Eau Claire Tech schools.
He served with the 3rd Army in Belgium, France, and Germany in the European Theater of operations during World War II. He was discharge with the rank of Sergeant at 19 years of age. He was a Charter Member of 724 Engineering group of the National Guard.
He was married to Dolores Breit on September 2, 1952, at St. Mary’s church in Chilton, and they made their home in Phillips
He was employed by different electrical contractors in building Price Electric transmission and distribution lines. He was also employed by Arrowhead Construction of Minneapolis building transmission lines for Northern States Power Company.
He was employed by Price Electric COOP for 38 years, was Plant Superintendent for 17 years, and was Chairman of Union Local 953 at Price Electric. He also served on the Executive Board for the IBEW at Eau Claire, WI, Local 953. He served as a board member of the Wisconsin State Job Training and Safety Commission for 8 years –this had to do with the electrical industry. He and Dolores owned and operated a purebred Angus beef farm for 35 years. He received his diploma from Phillips High School in 2008. He served on the St. Mary’s Church council for 6 years, as Eucharistic Minister and Lector since 1980, and served as a Lay Minister for many years. He served as Assessor for the Town of Harmony for a number of years, as Chaplain for the American Legion Post No. 122 and the Am Vets Post No. 50, and helped with the Czechfest. In his free time he enjoyed traveling with his family, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by three children, Peggy Sue (Ed) Hainy, Phillips, Kevin, Phillips, and Bruce (Coreyne), Verona; by four grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Hainy, Carmelitta and Melinka Holoubek; and by one brother, Stanley (Adela), Phillips. He was preceded in death by Dolores, his wife of 66 years, on December 23, 2018; by one grandson, Bryant Hainy; by four sisters, Sylvia Tom, Elsie Marsh, Sadie Dragovich, and Pansy Soul; and by two brothers, Tom and Charles.
Due to Covid 19 memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Saint Patrick Cemetery in Phillips
