LaVonne A. Mattson

LaVonne Ardell Mattson, age 86, a resident of Wausau, WI, passed away September 3, 2025, in Wausau. She was born February 24, 1939, in Minnesota to parents Henning and Wilhelmina Carlson. She graduated from Prentice High School. She married the love of her life David Mattson on July 25, 1960.

LaVonne was a stay-at-home Mom and then worked as the Librarian at the Ogema Public Library for a number of years after her children had grown. She was involved with the church choir and loved to volunteer at the Ogema Baptist Church. She excelled at cooking, baking, and canning. She made a great Swedish Tea Ring and cinnamon rolls.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents: Henning and “Mini” Carlson; brothers: Laurie, Phil, Bob, Jim, Kenny; and sister: Florence. She is survived by her husband: David Mattson; children: Brian (Jenny) Mattson; Dan (Cindy) Mattson; Ron (Cory) Mattson; Doug (Anne) Mattson; grandchildren: Michael, Lance, Eric, Tukker Mattson, James Oleson, Lauren Sohre and Zach Mattson, Kaylin Quella, Rachel Mattson, Emily Krause, Abigail Gouker, Isaac Mattson; great grandchildren: Alex, Mila, Norah, Lilly, Jonas, Gabe, Griffin, Gia, Ian, CeCe; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 8, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Ogema Baptist Church in Ogema, WI. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon at the church. A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery following the church service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in LaVonne’s honor can be made to the Ogema Baptist Memorial Fund.
