Leo Knowles

Leo A. Knowles, 82, of Skokie, Illinois, passed away April 3, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Leo grew up in the Chicago area. He was a graduate of Northwestern University and later did his graduate work at DePaul University. Leo was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps. He began his employment with Bauman & Finney Accounting in Chicago, and was later employed with Peat & Marwick Accounting, also in Chicago. In 1961, he went to work with General Finance, eventually elevating to the position of Chief Financial Officer. He retired in 1995. Leo was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Skokie, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club. He was a member of the Irving Park YMCA in Chicago. Leo was a volunteer with Junior Achievement in Evanston, Illinois. Survivors include: Leo's wife of 50 years Kathryn Knowles 2 daughters Ellen (Pastor Larry) Mathein, CPA Meg Knowles, M.D. 2 grandchildren Edward (Joy) & Jeremie Mathein 1 great grandchild Lily Goddaughter Jennifer Baird Best friend Valentine Leo was preceded in death by his mother - Gertrude.
