On Tuesday July 20th, 2021 Lila Jean Mattke (70) passed away peacefully on hospice after a difficult year long battle with cancer. She fought hard to recover but despite her courage was unable to do so.
Lila was born in November of 1950 in the Kimberly/Combined Locks area, but lived most of her life in Woodruff. Lila and her husband Marvin Mattke (deceased) and their son loved the Northwoods and spent much of their time hunting, fishing and camping all over Wisconsin. Lila was well known and liked in the community. She worked as an insurance agent for many years and at several other local businesses over the years like The Cheese Board, and Hillestad Pharmaceuticals where, as the office manager, she was affectionately known as "The Whip", because she kept everyone on their toes. After retirement she opted to take on a part time job at the local Walmart in the clothing and fitting area where she made many more friends. In her spare time she enjoyed mowing her lawn, working on her flowers, and feeding the hummingbirds. She decorated her home for every holiday without fail, she loved a good rummage sale, playing bingo, and enjoyed spending time with her family and her "granddogs", especially when sitting next to a nice campfire on a cool evening.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Marvin, and her parents Robert and Frances, as well as her sister Trudy and two brothers, Bob and Morris. She is survived by her beloved son, Jason Mattke and her daughter in law Nichole, as well as her brother Terry and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Gathering for Lila will be held on Thursday, July 29th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel with a Memorial Service at 6:00 pm
