Lorin Jon Hammond was born in Wausau, WI on February 12, 1966 to parents Larry Leslie Hammond and Gloria Jean Hammond. He was born into eternal life on December 7, 2020.
Lorin grew up in Wausau and attended Wausau West High School. After high school, Lorin attended North Central Technical College earning a degree in Marketing. He was then accepted into the plumbing apprentice program and ultimately became a master plumber.
Lorin married Dana (Fritz) Hammond in 1988 and they have two children - Maclain David Jon Hammond and Caroline Lorin Hammond. Lorin is also survived by his parents Larry and Gloria of Gleason, WI, his sister Cindy Kohnhorst (Jeff), and nephews Thomas and Joseph, all of Wausau WI. Lorin was preceded in death by his grandparents Leslie and Anita Hammond and Edward and Beatrice Delf. He was loved by all of his extended family.
Lorin worked for B&D Plumbing in Wausau until 1996 and then moved his family to Minocqua, WI where he established Hammond Plumbing & Heating which he owned and operated until 2018. Lorin was a very hard-working and successful master plumber who took pride in his work and enjoyed using his skills to help others. It was not unusual for people to marvel at his craftsmanship and attention to detail. After selling Hammond Plumbing & Heating, Lorin took a foreman position with Wisconsin Mechanical Solutions where he was currently employed. There he enjoyed working with and leading other plumbers on numerous commercial projects
Lorin was proud of his business and the work he did, but even more proud of his family who adored him. Everyone who knew Lorin loved him. He was a kind man with a quiet disposition who put others before himself. Lorin’s family was everything to him and you could see a twinkle in his eyes with the joy they gave him.
Lorin loved working with kids and spent many years coaching youth soccer. The kids loved ‘coach Hammond’ and wanted to be on his team. Lorin also loved to deer hunt. He spent a lot of time preparing for and enjoying the deer hunting season which he looked forward to every year with his family.
The unexpected passing of Lorin has broken the hearts of so many who will never be the same without him. We are so grateful to have had him in our lives. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
A private memorial service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, December 12 at Nimsgern Funeral, Minocqua. A celebration of life will be planned in the near future.
