M. Gale Eichelberger, 89, of Fisher passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home in Minocqua, WI.

He was born March 8, 1937, at home in rural Paxton. He was the 9th child of George and Edna Peters Eichelberger. He married Marlene Delaney on December 22, 1956. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1996.
Gale -- known to most as “Shady” -- graduated in 1955 from Fisher High School where he exceled in all sports and was inducted into the Fisher High Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. After marrying his high school sweetheart and settling in Fisher, Shady worked as the owner/operator of the FS service station in Fisher before joining Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a commercial salesman. He retired from Goodyear in 1996. He was a member of the Fisher Methodist Church and an active member of the Lion’s Club. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, spending time with family and friends. Knowing Shady meant you had a standing invitation to visit his home in Wisconsin where he loved spending time, sharing his passion for fishing and hosting family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by three children, Robert (Tamara) of Clinton, Dee Ann (David) Bergman of Dewey, and Michael (Nicole) of Paxton; three grandchildren, Holly (Craig) Bauman of Pana, Lee (Mandy) Eichelberger of Minier, Sydney (Tyler) Grigalis of Richmond, KY; six great-grandchildren, Greyson, Wyatt and Samanta Bauman, and Madison, Mackinze and Logan Eichelberger, as well as siblings Virginia Welborn and Patsy Harper of Fisher. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 11 to 12:30 pm on Saturday, April 18, at the Fisher Community Building (100 E. School St.) followed by a celebration of life service with Pastor Gary Fairchild officiating and lunch. Memorials contributions may be made to the Fisher Athletics Booster Club (211 W. Division St., Fisher, IL 61843).
