Mardell "Mardy" Anne Hofmann

Mardell “Mardy” Anne Hofmann, age 85 of Phillips, WI, passed away at her home on July 29, 2025. Mardy was born to Edward and Martha Hofmann on July 6, 1940, in Colby, WI. She grew up on her family farm in Owen along with her older siblings Inez and Ronald. Mardy moved to Milwaukee after graduating high school so that she could attend nursing school. It was there that she met her future husband, Joseph Coker. They married on June 2, 1962, and together they moved to Phillips and bought Sunset Bay, a supper club on Solberg Lake, in 1971. Mardy and Joe raised three daughters together, Debra, Rebecca, and Sarah.

Mardy was respected for her strong work ethic and frequently had multiple jobs. Most notably, for 25+ years she worked as a waitress at Skyline Supper Club and a CNA at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Mardy was a true caretaker and valued the many connections she formed throughout her life.

In later life, Mardy could often be found admiring her flowers, spoiling her barn kitties, thrifting, or teaching her family how to cook. She enjoyed family get togethers and took pride in decorating for every holiday. As the matriarch of the family, she wore many hats and loved them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronnie Hofmann, sister Inez Behringer, and brother-in-law Herb Behringer. She is survived by her sister-in-law Carol Hofmann; her daughters Deb (Mike) Neitzke, Becky Coker (Greg Kleinhans), and Sarah (Scott) Retallick; her grandchildren Angela (Josh) Frieze, Jake Kleinhans (Tara Martinez), Jasmyn (Dayne) Marlenga, Austyn (Jonathon) Ocker, Jocelyn Kleinhans, and Marina Neitzke; her great grandchildren Autumn and Mason Kleinhans, Rosie and Owen Martinez, Jaxtyn and Londyn Frieze, Layton Ocker, and Paisley Marlenga; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Per Mardy’s wishes, there are no formal services planned, but she is remembered with love and her family will continue to live life be her motto, “We’re gonna have fun, dammit!”
