Patricia Kay Heikkinen (Patty), age 69, special child of God, came into this world on December 17, 1955 in Phillips, WI, and left it on May 29, 2025 in her home at Railway Group Home in Tomahawk. Patty, who grew up at her parent’s home in Brantwood, was a friend to so many people throughout her lifetime. She loved to play Boo with you or throw you a kiss so you could catch it and put it in your pocket. She liked to play card matching games, putting 100-piece puzzles together and she loved Elvis Presley. In her early years, she went to “school” in Phillips and Tomahawk. She became a resident of Horizons Unlimited in Rhinelander, after our mother’s death in 1989. Patty became a resident of Railway in Tomahawk when it opened in 2005. She enjoyed living there, where they took very good care of her until the day she died. She also loved working at Lincoln Industries until they closed.
Surviving Patty are her eight siblings (she being the middle child), Karen (Ron) Sandquist, Prentice; Alan (Paige) Heikkinen, Tomahawk; Linda Halverson, Tomahawk; Jim (Linda) Heikkinen, Brantwood; Bob (Shirlee) Heikkinen, Brantwood; Mary (Jeff) Petersen, Prentice; Tom (Diane) Heikkinen, Brantwood; Terry (Pam) Heikkinen, Prentice; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including her family at Railway.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ilene (Nelson) Heikkinen; brother-in-law, Carl Halverson; nephews, Ryan Sandquist and Scott Verage; and some of her friends from Railway.
We would like to give a special thank you to Lori Lemke at Railway, and all of the many friends that helped with Patty over the years. They are a very special kind of people. Also, to Aspirus Hospitals in Tomahawk and Wausau for taking good care of Patty during her recent stay, and to Aspirus Hospice for helping care for her at the end.
A memorial service will be held for Patty at 11:00 a.m. on June 20, 2025 at Krueger-Nimsgern Funeral Home, Tomahawk with Pastor Julie Sinkula officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of service. Burial will be held at the Prentice Cemetery next to her Mom and Dad.
Rest in peace, dear Patty. There is a very special place in heaven waiting for you. We love you.
