Paul David Neu

Paul David Neu, of Phillips, Wisconsin, passed away on September 2, 2026. He lived a remarkable life defined by family, friendship, hard work, and an unwavering ability to connect with people.

Paul was born February 18th, 1954 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Lester and Marion Neu. He attended St Pete's grade school then Milwaukee Lutheran High School and later became involved in the family business, Neu Tool & Supply. For more than four decades, Paul helped grow the company while building countless lifelong relationships with customers, vendors, suppliers, and friends. His easygoing personality, genuine interest in people, and gift for conversation made him a natural ambassador for the business. Although Paul retired in 2016, his passion for the business never faded. The company, the people, and the memories remained on his mind, and he spoke of them often until his final days

While he worked hard, Paul's greatest pride was always his family. On May 16, 1981 he married Mary Beth (Dooley). They raised 4 boys, Jason, Tim, Eric and Billy. He cherished time spent with his sons and then grandchildren, taking tremendous joy in watching their families grow. Known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and welcoming nature, Paul could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and leave them feeling like an old friend.

When he wasn't working, Paul could often be found enjoying the Northwoods he loved so dearly. He treasured time spent at the Red House, casting a line on a fishing trip, heading out on a hunting excursion, or enjoying family vacations and gatherings. Some of his happiest moments were spent surrounded by family, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories that will live on for generations.

It is said that Paul had nine lives, especially after his life-altering stroke in 2018. Those who knew him could attest he was really into double digits. He possessed an incredible will to live and found joy in every moment. His resilience, determination, and positive outlook inspired everyone around him.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Marion Neu, and by his son, Eric.

He is survived by his sons, Jason (Jodi), Tim (Cala), and Billy (Christine); his beloved grandchildren Amanda, Jake, Braeden, Anika, Nick, Luna, Evan, Bryce, Henry, Tucker, Hank, Lyle and Violet; his siblings Dale (Debby), Robert (Laura) and sister Amy Podmolik (David) along with many other relatives, friends, business associates, and all those whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Paul will be remembered for his kindness, his integrity, his love of family, and his ability to make meaningful connections wherever he went. His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the relationships he built, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

Visitation for Paul will be held on Thursday, September 10th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel with a Funeral Service at 12:00 noon followed by a reception.
